THE SALOPIAN POETRY SOCIETY'S ANNUAL OPEN POETRY COMPETITION 2009.

Conditons of entry:-

This competition is open to every one over the age of 15 years.Entries must be in english & your own original work.Entries must not be entered into any other competition,nor have been a prize winner in any other competition.

Poems should be typed but,if hand-written,printed. Each poem should be entered on a separate piece of paper bearing only the title of the poem. Author's name,address or any other form of identification must NOT be included on the poem or poems but should be written on the entry form or a separate sheet of paper together with the titles of the poems,and the name and address of the poet,and attached to the entries.Please ensure that sufficient postage is on the envelope when submitting your entries.

POEMS MUST NOT EXCEED 40 LINES.

Entry fee is £3 per poem or four for £10 for non members and £2 per poem for society members. All cheques or postal orders must be made payable to The Salopian Poetry Society and not to the adjudicator or secretary. NO COINS OR STAMPS PLEASE. No manuscripts can be returned. Please keep a copy of all poems entered.

FIRST PRIZE £200 – Second prize £100 – Third prize £50.

Three consolation prizes of £30 will be paid to three runners up, plus all six winners will receive a year’s free subscription to the society worth £12.50 to commence from December 1st 2008 in the case of non-members or from the date of expiry of current membership 2009 for winning members.

Entries unaccompanied by an entry form will be accepted provide that the rules are adhered to.

Adjudicator:- Hilary Llewellyn-Williams.

A free list of winners will be sent if a S.A.E. is enclosed for this purpose with the entry form. The six winning poems will be published in the Winter edition of ‘Salopeot’ 2009 copies of which can be obtained @£3.00 ( including postage) from the Editor:- Roger Hoult, 5,Squires Close,Madeley,Telford,TF7-5RU,or ordered on the entry form.

CLOSING DATE 31st August 2009.

Whilst the copyright of all poems remains that of the Author the society shall have the right to publish the six winning poems in the Winter issue of ‘Salopeot’and on their website.
